LUDHIANA: In a
Raksha Bandhan gift from the postal department, it is offering 6% discount on purchase of gold coins. While gift plazas to snazzy malls are trying to woo brothers by offering them an array of choice, the postal department, too, is following the trading trends by coming up with this scheme. Sources said the plan was being offered on Rakhi, but it was expected that after seeing the response, the postal department might extend it further.
Senior postmaster Gajanand Jogi said last year, the postal department had sold the coins to more than 40,000 customers.
Saying that the scheme was valid till September, Jogi said the gold coins of half-gram, one-gram, five-gram and eight-gram denomination would be available at the city
post office.
Along with the coins come Swiss certification of purity and postal logo. Ranked as number one in terms of revenue generation from the gold coins, the city postal department had launched the scheme in November, 2008.
